Turmeric Rice
Turmeric has been used in India for thousands of years as both a spice and medicinal herb. Recently, Science has supported its traditional claims and is now promoted as a dietary supplement for a variety of conditions, including arthritis, digestive disorders, respiratory infections, allergies, liver disease, depression, and many others.
Here are some of it's fun facts about Turmeric:

Curcumin is the key active ingredient in turmeric.
To improve it's absorption into your bloodstream and experience the full effects, consume it with black pepper.

Medicinal properties.
Natural anti-inflammatory.
It may increase the antioxidant capacity of the body.
It may help improve memory and attention.
It may help lower risk of heart disease and cancer.
Anti-depressant like properties .
It may help regulate body fat.
It may improve blood sugar metabolism.
It may have antibacterial effects.
It may disrupt fungal cell membranes.
This week my husband made us some Turmeric Rice for the first time! The kids and I are very picky eaters and are learning to expand our horizons : ) I know, I know But happy to report we loved it!
Here is the simple recipe he made for us.
In pot 2 tbsp Melt butter.
Add 1/2 onions diced unto translucent
Add 4 garlic cloves diced until fragrant be careful to not burn it.
Add 1 tbs turmeric
Add 4 cups rice
Stir to coat the rice with onions garlic and turmeric
Add 4 cups water
Add salt and pepper to taste
